Unconditional support from Brazilian philosopher for Öcalan’s call

Brazilian philosopher Frei Betto has declared his “unconditional” support for Öcalan’s February 27 call.

Support messages from around the world continue to pour in for Abdullah Öcalan’s historic statement made on 27 February.

Brazilian writer, political activist, philosopher, liberation theologian, and Dominican friar Carlos Alberto Libânio Christo (known as Frei Betto) issued a statement of support.

Betto, who is also known as an informal advisor to Brazilian President Lula da Silva and for his interviews with Fidel Castro, shared his message with the DEM Party, which then published it on its X (Twitter) account: "I express my unconditional support for the peace and democratization process in Turkey! I see the peaceful coexistence of the Turkish and Kurdish peoples, their sharing of bread and joy of life, as a significant advancement of civilization. Our nationalities, ethnic origins, languages, and cultures are all proof of the diversity and richness within the one humanity that must live together as siblings in the 'Common Home' we call Earth.
Long live democracy! Down with imperialism!"
