YRA salutes Kurdish Journalism Day

YRA commemorated the martyrs of the free press and said, "Our comrades sacrificed their lives for the sake of truth. Thanks to their sacrifices, we have a strong foundation in the struggle for freedom."

The Free Press Association (YRA) based in North-East Syria made a written statement on the occasion of the 126th anniversary of 22 April, Kurdish Journalism Day.

126 years ago, the Kurdistan Newspaper started its adventure in Cairo, Egypt, which was an important step in the struggle for freedom of the Kurdish people and the four parts of Kurdistan, the statement said, drawing attention to the North and East Syrian Revolution: "If we have an autonomous system and army today, if the system of brotherhood of peoples in the region is succeeding despite all attacks and plans, this is thanks to the struggle of free press activities. Our comrades sacrificed their lives for the sake of truth. Thanks to their sacrifices, we have a strong foundation in the struggle for freedom."

Commemorating the free press journalists who were martyred in the pursuit of the truth, the statement concluded: "Our journalist comrades, no matter which institution they are in, should be the voice of social democracy as the followers of the martyrs of the press and carry out their struggle on this basis."
