Two employees of the Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat who were detained in Mersin province two days ago, have been jailed.
Two employees of the Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat who were detained in Mersin province two days ago, have been jailed.
Azadiya Welat employees Şirin Çoban and İlker İlkan who had been detained by police while on their way home in Mersin on September 7 evening, have been referred to prosecutor's office today after finalization of their procedures at police headquarters.
After testifying at the prosecutor's office, Çoban and İlkan were referred to court with a demand for their arrest for alleged “membership to a terror organisation” and “disseminating propaganda for a terror organisation”.
Çoban and İlkan were later remanded in custody and sent to prison on charges of “disseminating propaganda for a terror organisation”.
