The report highlighted that a total of 18 journalists were detained and 6 were jailed during the month of May, while 6 suffered torture and ill-treatment, 2 were threatened and 2 others faced arbitrary obstructions.
In addition, 4 journalists were attacked, 2 were removed from duty, offices of 4 publications were raided, 3 TV and radio channels were suspended from broadcasting, and 4 media bans were introduced.
The report underlined that the journalists subjected to ill-treatment and torture by state forces were those working in Northern Kurdistan region.
