Zehra Doğan had been released during her first trial at Mardin 2nd Heavy Penal Court on December 9, after having been arrested on July 23 and charged with “organization membership” and “organization propaganda” on December 9. Zehra's trial continued today at Mardin 2nd Heavy Penal Court. Zehra and her lawyers were present in today's hearing, which began with identification procedures.
Judges announced their decision on Zehra after her defense, and dropped the charges of “organization membership” but sentenced her to 2 years 9 months and 22 days for the content she shared on social media on December 21, 2015 and December 9, 2016 as well as the news article she wrote on the notes of 10 years-old Elif Akboğa on December 22, 2015.
