Yeni Yaşam newspaper worker Veysi Akören was taken into custody in Batman (Êlih). Akören, who had flown from Istanbul to Batman, was detained at the airport. The reason of his arrest was not learned.

Veysel Akören, Yeni Yaşam newspaper’s Batman distributor, suffered a kidnap attempt on 8 November, when unidentified individuals who introduced themselves as police officers, tried to force him into a car. The journalists present during that incident asked the individuals trying to detain Akören their identity and the reason for his detention, and were able to avoid the abduction.

The unidentified individuals fled the scene after the journalists and citizens protested the suspicious detention.
