Following the closing of Özgür Gündem newspaper by the İstanbul 8th Penal Court of Peace and the detention of newspaper workers by the police, people started gathering in front of the newspaper’s Beyoğlu building. HDP İstanbul MP Pervin Buldan, HDK İstanbul Province Co-spokesperson Şamil Altan and HDP İstanbul Province Co-chair Doğan Erbaş were among the crowd. Buldan and others tried to enter the building while the police search continued but weren’t allowed through.

The police units left the building after completing their search. But the building was sealed by Beyoğlu Municipality units immediately after the police left.

Reports say there is no legal decree for the sealing of the newspaper building.
