9 journalists have been summoned to testify with allegations of “terrorist propaganda” because they supported the “Editor in Chief Watch” campaign launched by Özgür Gündem newspaper.
9 journalists who joined the “Editor in Chief Watch” campaign launched on May 3 in solidarity with the closed Özgür Gündem newspaper were summoned to testify within the scope of the investigation launched against them. HDP Central Executive Committee Member Çilem Küçükkeleş, ETHA editor Derya Okatan, haberdar.com executive editor Said Sefaoğlu, Tuğrul Eryılmaz, Dicle Anter, Hasan Cemal, Hasan Hüseyin Tahmaz, Murat Uyurkulak and Nadire Mater are among those summoned to testify on allegations of “terrorist propaganda”.
The content of the news stories published in the paper on the day they acted as Editor in Chief was cited as the reason for the questioning. The journalists need to go to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to give statements, or arrest warrants will be issued.
