Sırrı Süreyya Önder, a member of the Imrali Committee of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), who was hospitalized on the night of 15 April following a heart condition, remains in intensive care.
In a written statement on Saturday, the Press Office of the DEM Party said, “According to the information provided by his doctors, Önder's general condition is stable and his treatment in intensive care continues.”
The statement continued, “Meanwhile, visits to the hospital have continued since the first day. Our İmralı Delegation Member Pervin Buldan, Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan, Group Deputy Chairpersons Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit and Sezai Temelli, our MPs and executives continue to wait at the hospital.
Many political delegations, personalities and NGO representatives visited the hospital yesterday afternoon and today. Yesterday evening, Vice President Fuat Oktay, Fatih Erbakan, Chairman of the Welfare Party, Derya Yanık, former Minister of Family and Social Policies, and many others visited the hospital.
Today, the Saturday Mothers, AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala, CHP Deputy Chairman Yalçın Karatepe, former Agriculture Minister Mehdi Eker, a delegation from the Felicity Party, artists such as Yavuz Bingöl and Oktay Kaynarca, and many members of parliament have paid visits. Cemil Çiçek also called our party executives once again by phone and received information about Önder’s condition.
In order to reduce the intensity of visitors to the hospital, our party started to accept get-well visits at our provincial and district organizations. Thousands of people are visiting our offices to wish Önder a speedy recovery.”
