DİHA reporter Meltem Oktay arrested

DİHA reporter Meltem Oktay was arrested on charges of “membership to a terrorist organisation” after she was detained in Nusaybin and sent to the court earlier this week. Another reporter for DIHA, Uğur Akgül was released under judicial control.

DİHA reporter Meltem Oktay was arrested on charges of “membership to a terrorist organisation” after she was detained in Nusaybin and sent to the court earlier this week. Another reporter for DIHA, Uğur Akgül was released under judicial control.

DIHA reporters Meltem Oktay and Uğur Akgül were detained in a police raid on the house they stayed at in Çatalözü neighborhood in Mardin’s Nusaybin district on April 12. After their processing in the police headquarters, both reporters were transferred to the Nusaybin Public Hospital which has been turned into a court house recently and they were put before the court on duty. After the initial hearing, Oktay was arrested on charges of “membership to a terrorist organisation” and Akgül was asked to give a statement on charges of “terrorist propaganda” and released under judicial control.
