Turkey is appointing Turkish military officers as commanders for groups they call “Syrian opposition”. A document has surfaced that shows an officer in the Turkish army has been appointed as commander to a group acting as armed Syrian opposition.
With the lieutenant appointed to the group known as 2nd Coast Turkmen Division, the reason behind Turkey’s insistence for using the name “FSA” is revealed.
The Turkish state’s relationship with the armed groups known as Syrian Opposition had been revealed in documents and evidence before, but now this relationship is more concrete as a document that shows the appointment of a Turkish army member lieutenant as commander to a group acting as armed Syrian opposition surfaced.
The document is from the 2nd Coast Turkmen Division in Turkmen Mountain from the spring. It says: “Our 2nd Coast Division Commander Riyad Karabacak has fallen martyr in the honour war in rural Latakia weeks ago. We as the 2nd Coast Division Command Council have decided to appoint brother lieutenant Tarık Solak as commander to continue our fight for freedom and honour.”
With the seized document, it becomes clear why Turkey insisted on using the name “FSA”, why they made Al Qaeda groups such as Al Nusra, Ahrar Al Sham, Feylak Al Sham fight under this name, and that Turkey’s support to the gangs wasn’t limited to arms, ammunition and logistics but also extended to sending ranked officials to command the groups.
WHERE IS TARIK SOLAK NOW?
The clashes in Turkmen Mountain in the spring ended shortly after the Russian jet was downed. Most of the 1st and 2nd Division fighters moved to Turkey. The so-called 1st and 2nd Coast Divisions are among the gang groups that entered Jarablus on August 24 for the occupation. Lower-ranking officials like Osman Salih are now commanding the gang groups sent to Jarablus. Tarık Solak himself is unaccounted for. There is no information on the whereabouts of Tarık Solak. The question remains to be answered whether Tarık Solak is among the groups sent to Jarablus.
TWO MİT AGENTS IN SED SHEHABA
There have been several news stories on Turkish army ranked officials commanding gangs in the Syrian civil war in Aleppo, Idlib, and Shehba region of Aleppo. Jabhat Al-Akrad forces had claimed 2 MİT agents were killed in Sed Shehaba village in the ISIS attack in 2013 on the Kurdish villages in Shehba. This document shows this information wasn’t just hearsay, and proves the claims with the rank and name of the person.
