Azeri Kıznaz Turkeli enters Parliament as the HDP deputy from Iğdır, after being MP in 2015.
Turkeli was born in 1962 in the village of Melekli, Iğdır and learned of agriculture and livestock in the village since childhood.
The 7th of 10 brothers and sisters, Kiznaz Turkeli, met with revolutionary struggle at a young age. She was arrested and accused because she had distributed a paperwork at a workers' meeting in Topkapı in 1992 and stayed in prison for 6 months.
After her release from prison, Turkeli continued to struggle against the existing system, worked in many workplaces and factories, and has been a shopkeeper for the last 15 years.
A mother of one, she actively worked in women's organizations and labor movements for many years.
Turkeli, who speaks Azerbaijani, Kurdish and Turkish has lived in Istanbul for many years.
Turkeli entered parliament as an Iğdır deputy from HDP in the general elections held on 7 June 2015.
Following the election coup of 15 July 2016 and President Tayyip Erdogan decision to run new election, Turkeli, was not elected.
Turkeli, who continued the political struggle in HDP, where all beliefs, identies and nations find a house was in the HDP Istanbul Avcılar District Administration.
She believes that the seeds of hatred among the Kurdish and Azeri people in Iğdır will be lifted with HDP.
