The Iranian regime has executed Kurdish political prisoners Zanyar and Luqman Muradi and Ramin Hossein Panahi on September 8, and didn’t let their families receive the bodies. The trials weren’t just, and the allegations were baseless. It has came to light that the method of executions also went against the system.
New information has surfaced on the final days of the 3 Kurdish prisoners before they were taken to be executed. Their families weren’t given their bodies. According to website Hrana, an anonymous prison personnel said the 3 prisoners were beaten before they were taken to the gallows. The source said Hossein Panahi was severely unwell in particular.
The source said, “Zanyar and Luqman Muradi were being taken to the execution in handcuffs and chains and they ran into Ramin Hossein Panahi. They saw that he was almost passed out and took action to defend him, but prison personnel including Gulamraza Ziayi, Maqsoud Zulafli and Nadir Bagari attacked them.”
The source said Luqman and Zanyar Muradi were taken to the quarantine on September 7. A cause for concern, this practice goes against prison protocol before executions. The protocol dictates that the death row inmates be placed in cells.
The prison personnel said, “The families and lawyers of these two prisoners were not sure whether they would be executed or not,” and added that the prisoners were executed 6 hours after the last family visit on September 8 at 10:00.
The source said, “Even Rajai Shahr Prison Director Hasan Gobadi didn’t make a final visit and refused to confirm that the executions could have happened at any time.”
Hrana’s source said the executions went against the Iranian prison system. The gallows were set up outside of the predetermined execution grounds called “silos”. And, the executions happened late at night, instead of the conventional early morning. The prison’s computer system had no information on where the prisoners were transported last, said the source and continued: “We heard there was an execution, but since the security officers assumed the execution, we haven’t learned where it took place exactly.”
There is conflicting information on where that location of the executions could be. Legal authorities say the executions happened in Tehran, but sources close to the Muradi family said Luqman and Zanyar Muradi’s bodies had notes on them that said, “Executed in Rajai Shahr”. The person present in the executions was reportedly an imam who gives the Friday sermons in Mariwan and has connections to the Iranian security apparatus.
The source said, “I heard from my colleagues that the prisoners wanted to put the noose around their necks by themselves. There was a scuffle when authorities rejected that request. Zanyar Muradi said Hasan Gobadi had promised them this right.”
