Bahçeli: The call from Imrali is valuable and important from beginning to end

MHP leader Bahçeli said: “The statement written in Imrali is valuable and important from beginning to end. The statement coming from Kandil is satisfactory.”

MHP president Devlet Bahçeli issued a written statement evaluating both the call issued by Abdullah Öcalan and the PKK.

Referring to Öcalan’s call, Bahçeli said: "The statement read to the public by the DEM Party delegation on 27 February 2025, and written in Imrali, is valuable and important from beginning to end." He added that the fact that the PKK Executive Committee’s statements also support and complement this call, was "pleasing."

Bahçeli emphasized that the call was directed at all components of the Kurdish movement, and added: "Its adherence and success will further strengthen Turkey in the new century, refining our thousand-year-old brotherhood on one hand and fortifying it on the other."

He pointed out that some ill-intentioned individuals were attempting to discredit Öcalan’s call and sabotage steps toward peace, and said: "It is impossible to speak of the innocence or rationality of those who wrinkle their faces by raising questions like 'What was given? What was taken?' or those who seek to disrupt the positive atmosphere. Those who fear the potential dissolution of the PKK will see their source of exploitation dry up, and Turkey will embark on a magnificent awakening in the course of the new century. By exercising the utmost caution against provocations, staying alert to any provocation of marginal groups, and intervening in a timely and prepared manner against the scenarios of countries with their eyes and ambitions set on our neighboring regions, the doors to an era enveloped in violence and betrayal will be closed forever."

Bahçeli’s statement also emphasized that "there will be no concessions in the fight against terrorism" and that "the state will not negotiate." He further stated: "The Turkish and Turkey Century will be established and secured through unity and solidarity, without falling into the absurd traps of hollow rhetoric set by intellectually, morally, and consciously decayed and corrupted circles who fail to grasp that the state does not negotiate. The Turkish nation is writing a new history. In the pages of this history, there will be no place for opponents of the homeland and the nation. A Turkey free of terrorism, a peaceful Turkey, a superpower Turkey is not a goal for the distant future, it is an immediate objective, and it is entrusted to our political honor."
