26 years old Karwan Cudi from Norway is fighting in the ranks of the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle, PKK. Cudi came to the mountains of Zagros in Kurdistan “to fight against the fascist Turkish army, to fight against the brutality and war crimes committed by the Turkish state and their army.”
Speaking to ANF, Cudi told that he decided to join PKK “because it was the right thing to do”. According to Cudi, PKK is not only an organization that is fighting just for Kurds or Kurdish lands, PKK fights also for humanity.
“A lot of people think that PKK is only fighting for Kurdistan and only cares about Kurdish people, but this is wrong. What PKK is fighting for is firstly for the freedom of our leader Serok Apo, and for the liberation of oppressed women and for the liberation of oppressed people all over the world. In these times its necessary that people are aware of what the Turkish state is doing. A lot of the states in Europe are accepting the actions that are committed by the Turkish state by staying passive.”
Cudi pointed out that Turkey has burned down thousands of Kurdish villages, jailed Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and Kurdish politicians, “because the Turkish state and Erdoğan are afraid of freedom”.
The HPG guerrilla from Norway remarked that: “A state such as Turkey and a person such as Erdogan cannot survive as long as people are aware of what the Turkish state is doing. That’s why the Turkish state is afraid, that’s why the Turkish state are jailing politicians, that’s why the Turkish state are jailing Kurdish teachers, that’s why the Turkish state is committing war crimes in Bakur (Northern Kurdistan). That’s why the Turkish state is threatening to send soldiers to oppress Kurdish people in Bakur. It’s because they’re afraid of freedom. Not only freedom but true freedom. Why is the Turkish state not able to accept the situation where Abdullah Öcalan is not in jail? It’s because if Abdullah Öcalan is freed from jail, people not only in Kurdistan but people in Europe will start to see what PKK, KCK and the ideas of Serokati are, that the aims and the goals of PKK’s politics is to spread freedom. It’s to free oppressed people. It’s to liberate women.”
Cudi stressed that the Turkish army is only protecting the Turkish state; it’s not protecting the people, and criticised Europe for remaining silent and passive as the Turkish army is committing war crimes and rights violations against the Kurdish people.
The Norwegian guerrilla has a message to send to people all over Europe; “If you like me want to fight for true freedom, want to fight for the liberation of oppressed women, join the PKK. Come to the mountains, join the guerrilla force that is every day growing in size, despite the numerous attacks from the Turkish army. PKK has existed for a little bit over 40 years and no state has ever been or will be successful in breaking down PKK. Join the revolution, spread the revolution, take to the streets all over Europe and brace your voices, don’t remain silent. Make demonstrations, spread the message that the war crimes committed by the Turkish state are not acceptable. Demand the immediate release of Serokati Abdullah Öcalan.”
