The 6th Children’s Festival kicks off in Kobanê

The festival is jointly organized by Baqî Xido Culture and Art Center and Kevana Zêrin under the motto “Children are the hope for our free future”.

The 6th edition of the Children’s Festival kicked off in Kobanê on Saturday. The festival is jointly organized by Baqî Xido Culture and Art Center and the Women's Culture and Art Movement, Kevana Zêrin (Golden Crescent), under the motto “Children are the hope for our free future”.

Following a statement on behalf of children, participants of the festival staged a march from the Free Women’s Square to Baqî Xido Culture and Art Center.


The festival began with a minute of silence in memory of the Kurdistan Freedom Martyrs, after which Arîn Kobanê, a member of the Euphrates Coordination of Kongra Star, the umbrella organization of women in North-East Syria addressed the crowd.

Arîn Kobanê wished a happy festival to children, saying: “We have come to these days thanks to Rêber Apo (Leader Abdullah Öcalan). We congratulate him and all the children on this day. We will avenge our martyrs and claim their cause. In light of Rêber Apo’s words ‘I did not betray my childhood dreams’, we must embrace our children further.”

The groups that have performed at the festival today are Koma Şehîd Şîlan of Hîlala Zêrîn, Şehîd Şîlan Folklore Group of Baqî Xido Culture and Art Center, Şehîd Mistefa Theater Group, Şehîd Esmer music band of Hîlala Zêrîn, Kobanê Gulên Pêşerojê, Koma Peymangeha Vejîn, Şehîd Sakîne Theater Group, Koma Barîn Music Band, Tîrêja Rojê, Şehîd Dicle Theater Group.

The festival will continue tomorrow with the participation of 10 groups of art.
