Ten days of events to celebrate Kurdish language

Kurdish Language Research and Development Association (Kürdider) is organizing various events including panels in Diyarbakýr on 13-22 of May in connection with the Kurdish Language Celebration.

May 15, the day Kurdish Hawar magazine started publication by Celadet Ali Bedirxan in 1932, is celebrated as Kurdish Language Feast since May 15 2006.

The 10-day long activities will point out to the denial policies developed against the Kurdish language and reflect the demands for the removal of the obstacles before the Kurdish language and for education in mother language Kurdish.

The activities will also be attended by intellectuals, writers and artists who worked at the Kurdish language. The Book Fair to take place between 17-22 May in Diyarbakýr will consist of books published by the Kurdish Language Society in on behalf of Kurdish Institute and Kürdider.

Kürdider President Burhan Zorooðlu remarked that the Hawar magazine was built by Celadet Bedirxan and companions with Kurdish Latin alphabet for the assurance of a unity of language among Kurds. 



EVENT SCHEDULE

- A reception will be held on May 13 with the participation of linguists who carried out researches and Works on the Kurdish language.

- A massive march will be held from Guesthouse to Sümerpark on May 15, which will be followed by a language program with children who got language training at various educational support houses.

- May 15 Language Day cards will be sent to Hundreds of TMK (Anti-Terror LAw) victim children.

- Panels will be held between 17-22 May on the importance of native language.
