After the municipality of Batman was usurped by the government through the appointment of a trustee earlier today, people took to the streets and started protests with applause and slogans.

The police attacked the protesters with rubber bullets, water cannons and pepper gas. Despite the brutal crackdown, the people did not back down and resisted.

According to reports from the ground, at least 60 people, including members of the municipal council, were taken into custody.
