The 1st Düsseldorf Kurdish Film Festival (DKFF) will kick off on 25 April. The festival, organized by the cinema team Art Records, will last until April 28. More than 30 feature and short films and documentaries will be screened in two different cinemas (UFA Palast and Metropol).
Cinema team Art Records said in a statement: “This is our first festival. We focus on the entire Yazidi community in Shengal, Kurdistan and the diaspora. In the film program, we draw attention to the Yazidi faith and the massacres that the Yazidi people suffered."
The festival aims to look at the Yazidi people from a broad perspective within the cultural, social, religious, political and historical framework. In addition to many films at the festival, a photography exhibition about the Shengal Massacre that took place on 3 August 2014 will be open.
