Kurdistan Communist Party to support DEM Party in local elections

The Kurdistan Communist Party announced its support for the DEM Party at the March 31 local elections in Turkey and North Kurdistan.

The Kurdistan Communist Party (KKP) announced its election manifesto for the March 31 local elections at a press conference held at the party's Amed (Diyarbakır) Provincial Organization building.

KKP Political Spokesperson Nusrettin Maçin shared the declaration with the public. Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Van MP Sinan Çiftyürek also took part in the press conference.

Nusrettin Maçin stated that they will support the DEM Party in the local elections, in which they will not participate as a party under their own name.

Maçin said, "We see the damage caused by the Kurds entering the elections in Kirkuk with different lists. For this reason, in times like these, we must put aside our internal contradictions and stand together as a libertarian bloc against the sovereign state and parties."

Maçin added, "The state and the "People's Alliance" (Cumhur İttifakı of the AKP and MHP) clearly want to create fragmentation in Kurdish politics, trying to weaken Kurdish national unity. They want to usurp the municipalities in Kurdistan from the Kurds.”

Underlining that they will put the political, economic, social and cultural problems of the people at the center of their work, Maçin said, "We will focus our struggle on these subjects. We must put up a common struggle against the trustees."

Maçin concluded: "We will create job opportunities for women and young people, resolve the issue of student dormitories, open Kurdish language, culture and art centers, support the needs in agriculture and animal husbandry in Kurdistan. Most importantly, we embrace the basic duty of municipalities to create a dignified living space for citizens in need in every aspect."
