Political genocide operations aiming an elimination of the Kurds continue increasingly after the recent initiation and imposition of war policies by the AKP in the Kurdish region of Turkey.

While the wave of detentions increasingly targets Kurdish politicians, HDP, DBP executives and co-mayors following the declarations of self-governance in many towns in North Kurdistan, the arrest decisions by courts are also on the rise in recent days. While HDP branch co-chairs and DBP co-mayors are detained in house raids in districts of Ağrı and Siirt, at least 20 persons were formally arrested by courts in Mardin and Erzurum.

AĞRI

Police raided the house of HDP branch co-chair Engin Dursun in Eleşkirt district of Ağrı and detained him following a detailed house search.

VAN

In Erciş district of Van, police detained two persons as a result of house raids conducted in Sûlî and Sorêsora neighbourhoods this morning. The detainees have been taken to the police department in the town.

SİİRT

Snow masked special operation units raided the house of Siirt's Eruh district municipality co-mayor Hüseyin Kılıç this morning. Following a detailed search in the house, police took Kılıç to the municipality building where another search was conducted.

Following a search at the municipality, Kılıç was later taken to the police headquarters in the district.

MARDİN

Five persons were detained in house raids carried out in Koçhisar neighbourhood of Kızıltepe district of Mardin late yesterday evening.

In the meantime three out of four Kurdish politicians, who had been detained in Nusaybin district of Mardin the previous day, were formally arrested by the court on grounds of “participating in the declarations of self-governance”.

HDP Nusaybin district co-chair Sabiha Gündüz, Nusaybin MEYADER representative Salih Cebe, DBP Nusaybin branch executive Erhan Dinç were remanded in custody by the court on August 25, while another DBP executive Ramazan Artan was released. The three arrested were reportedly sent to Mardin E Type Closed Prison.

ERZURUM

17 persons had previously been detained in house raids in Tekman district of Erzurum, were formally arrested by the court yesterday on alleged grounds of “aiding and spreading propaganda for an organisation”. The arrested were sent to Erzurum H Type Prison.

ANTEP

At least 10 persons including the DBP branch executives were detained in house raids carried out by special operations units in Şehitkamil district of Antep this morning.

While the detainees were taken to the police headquarters in the district, the number of detentions is expected to increase in the coming hours, according to the reports.
