TEV DEM has held a commemoration ceremony for People's Liberation Army of Kurdistan (ARGK) Commander Mahsun Korkmaz (Egît) and other freedom fighters who lost their lives in a clash on Mount Gabar 29 years ago.

The commemoration in Qereman village of Efrîn, held as part of the Week of Bravery events, was attended by hundreds of people.

Speaking here, TEV DEM member Şervan Hesen stressed that the Kurdish people have come to these days owing to martyrs like Mazlum Doğan ve Mahsun Korkmaz, and also remembered the Hesekê Newroz Martyrs.

Hesen said that; "Enemies of the Kurdish people have tried to break the will of the Kurds and to eradicate them from the history for centuries. Against this, Mazlum Doğan strengthened the will of the Kurdish people by displaying a great determination in Amed prison. After that, ARGK Commander Mahsun Korkmaz (Egît) created a new and blessed history by firing the first bullet on colonialism." Hesen noted that thousands of Kurds have sacrificed themselves in order for the Kurds to come to these days.

Hesen recalled that the struggle continues today with YPG/YPJ fighters who are mounting a historic resistance in Rojava and giving an unprecedented fight against the ISIS gangs that are in the same way aiming to break the will of the Kurdish people.

The commemoration ended with the speeches and assessments of other participants.
