YPG / YPJ and Asayish (Public Security) forces in Qamishlo city of Rojava have taken control of the regime-held Elaye prison to the east of the city.

After 45 regime soldiers trapped in the prison surrendered to YPG forces last night, the remaining 22 also turned themselves into the YPG today afternoon in the wake of violent clashes ongoing since yesterday.

Corpses of 5 regime soldiers and a large quantity of ammunition have been seized by YPG and Asayish members who also transported the inmates in the prison to a safe area.

On the other hand, houses in Elaya neighborhoods came under artillery fire from the Qamishlo Airport. Residents are now leaving their houses and moving to safer areas.

In the meantime, ongoing clashes between Asayish / YPG and regime forces are getting heavier in Wehedê neighborhood, mainly near the regime's military security point close to the Kelime hospital.

Reports are coming through that snipers affiliated to regime forces are being positioned on higher buildings and targeting civilians. As clashes are going on, no detailed information is yet available as to the results of the fighting.
