HPG: Dozens of soldiers killed in enhanced actions by guerrillas

HPG pointed out that the battle waged by their side in response to the attacks of Erdoğan, AKP ruling and Turkish state against the Kurdish people and movement continues in a more comprehensive manner.

People's Defense Forces (HPG) Press Office has released a statement detailing the ongoing attacks by Turkish military and the actions conducted by guerrillas in response.

HPG pointed out that the battle waged by their side in response to the attacks of Erdoğan, AKP ruling and Turkish state against the Kurdish people and movement continues in a more comprehensive manner. According to HPG, guerrillas are conducting strong actions in response to the intensified attacks and enhancing the struggle with effective tactics of battle.

GUERRILLA ACTIONS ON ULUDERE BORDER LINE CONTINUE

HPG reported that guerrillas conducted an action against a Turkish troop on move near the border between Şırnak's Uludere district and Metina area of PKK-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory. The results of the action, which was carried out at 06:00 on April 19 morning, couldn't be made clear.

During the following hours, guerrillas also hit the Turkish soldiers around Kuroşino Hill. The results of this action couldn't be verified either.

At 10:00 the same day, guerrillas hit an armoured vehicle of Turkish military that endeavored to head towards the Kuroşino Hill. The vehicle was destroyed and 1 sergeant in it was killed.

One hour later, guerrillas retaliated against a Turkish troop that attempted to enter the Kuroşino area, which forced the soldiers to retreat.

At 17:00 on April 19, guerrillas hit and damaged a Cobra type helicopter of Turkish military as it headed from Şırnak to Hakkari's Çukurca district. The helicopter suffered a damage and it was forced to land in Serbesta outpost at the border line. Guerrillas also damaged 2 diggers working for the Serbesta outpost.

6 SOLDIERS KILLED IN ÇATAK

In Çatak district of Van, guerrillas targeted the Girê Sur outpost at 07:00 on April 19. A total of 6 soldiers were killed in the guerrilla action which was carried out in memory of fallen Haki Amed and 3 other guerrillas.

HPG noted that Turkish soldiers have been laying ambushes around the villages of Qiledar, Kanî Spî, Tillê, Akro and Kopek that are located on Amed – Bingöl highway during the past 15 days.

CLASH IN AKDAĞ AREA

HPG continued, reporting a clash between guerrillas and Turkish soldiers that launched an operation in Akdağ area of Bingöl's Genç district on April 18. HPG added that details about this operation and clash will be made public once made clear.

15 SOLDIERS KILLED IN SARIKAMIŞ

On April 16, guerrillas hit a Turkish troop laying ambushes in Sarıkamış district of Kars, as a result of which 15 soldiers were killed and 4 others were wounded.

Guerrillas also hit the soldiers holding a nearby hill in the area, which left 8 soldiers dead and 1 other wounded. While soldiers fled the hill as a result of the blows they suffered, a guerrilla by the name of Şerzan Qodniş got wounded during this offensive and died on April 17.

As Turkish military airdropped more soldiers in the area in an effort to expand the operation, guerrillas hit a troop that tried to enter this area from various sides on April 17. The action by guerrillas killed 7 soldiers and wounded 3 others. Turkish troops retreated from the operation zone after suffering heavy losses.

MILITARY OPERATION IN HAKKARİ CONTINUES

HPG reported that the operation started by Turkish military in Talê, Bakê and Bêderkê areas of Hakkari on April 16 evening is going on.

TURKISH JETS BOMB GARE

The statement by HPG added that Turkish jets bombed the surroundings of Guzê village in Garê area of Medya Defense Zones between 12:00 – 13:00 on April 19.
