The ongoing political genocide operations of the AKP have this time targeted co-mayors of DBP-held municipalities in Amed.

A number of people including co-mayors of Silvan and Sur municipalities have been detained in house-raid operations in the districts of Sur and Silvan where at least two people were murdered by security forces that surrounded and attacked three neighborhoods yesterday.

HDP Amed deputy Sibel Yiğitalp who herself is in Silvan, said many people including Silvan co-mayor Yüksel Bodakçı have been taken into custody in the expansive operation, adding that they however didn't know the exact number of those detained.

According to initial reports, two co-mayors of Sur Municipality, Seyid Narin and Fatma Şık Barut, DBP Sur district co-chair Ali Rıza Çiçek and DBP Assembly personnel Güneş Ölmez were taken into custody in concurrent house raids in Sur district early this morning.

The detentions have reportedly been carried out in relation with the declarations of self-governance.
