Political prisoner Adnan Çelebi's release delayed
The release of Adnan Çelebi, who has been imprisoned for approximately 31 years, has been postponed once again for three months due to arbitrary reasons.
Adnan Çelebi is currently being held in Tokat Type T Closed Prison. The political prisoner’s sentence officially ended on 11 September 2024. However, the Administrative and Observation Board postponed the release for another three months.
According to the information received, Adnan Çelebi appeared before the board again on 11 December.
The Administrative and Observation Board postponed the prisoner’s release, citing reasons such as 'not showing remorse'.
Adnan Çelebi was detained on 14 September 1994, in the Mutki district of Bitlis. On 14 October 1994, he was sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of "membership in an organization" and "undermining the unity and integrity of the state.'
