The Command Council of the Free Women's Troops (YJA Star) gathered to evaluate the activities of 2021 and the perspectives for 2022. After an opening speech, the leadership directives, the activity reports for 2021, the political military agenda and the ideological, practical and organisational work of 2021 were evaluated. The restructuring and the form of tactics and command were then discussed. In particular, the meeting was about criticism and self-criticism and the resulting corrections and planning decisions.

In a statement about the meeting, the Command Council said the following:

 "We are convinced that the decisions taken at our YJA Star Command Council meeting, and the plans made there are a strong perspective for the tactics of the 21st century women's guerrilla force and people's revolutionary war for Kurdistan in particular, but also for all women and peoples. As the Command Council of YJA Star, we greet Women's Day, 8 March, in this spirit and call on all women to take to the streets and squares. Let all days henceforth be days of freedom and women. We say: 'Women will smash fascism'.

"Freedom of Abdullah Öcalan means freedom of women"

The year 2021, when the war of to be or not to be was relentlessly waged, was a year of hot conflicts, when the freedom of the women of the Middle East and the world and of all oppressed peoples was approaching with great strides. It was a year of feelings of victory, of lively hope and of hot struggles.

The annihilation concept of our enemy against Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] and our movement, the invasion attacks against our country Kurdistan and the policy of genocide were continued. This is a continuation of the international plot that was shown in 2021 in the most fascist, immoral and aggressive way. This concept aimed at decapitating the PKK and separating the Kurds from the PKK. By means of soft power, it aimed at marginalizing the PKK, taking away its ideological-philosophical direction and integrating it into the system. On the other hand, the aim is to destroy the guerrillas through an all-out attack and to deny the right to life to free and self-determined Kurds through an invasion. In this context, it was stated that the Third World War is being waged through Imrali. The main agenda of our meeting was to break the isolation of Rêber Apo and to smash fascism. All discussions were based on the thoughts of Rêber Apo, his perspectives and philosophy. The freedom of Rêber Apo means the freedom of women and peoples.

The historical significance of the Gare resistance

The enemy did not succeed in distancing us from Rêber Apo. They conducted a special operation against the Gare region on 10-14 February 2021, trying to accelerate the plot again. But the resistance of the guerrillas in Gare broke the enthusiasm of the enemy. The victory of Siyanê in Gare was a struggle appropriate to the resistance tradition of the PKK. The enemy was broken militarily and politically. It brought a new awakening to the movement and great morale to the guerrilla, the women and the peoples. For this reason, the Siyanê resistance was called a historical victory. This historic resistance not only defeated the enemy but also strengthened the people's belief in victory and success and guerrillas. Şoreş Beytüşşebap and the 14 friends who fell under his command have become concrete examples of the sacrificial mentality of the Apoist fighters. It was the PKK, the Apoist philosophy and ideology that resisted in Gare. It was the leader, it was the women. The Gare resistance is the latest and clearest example of the victory of resistance.

"A resistance that the enemy could not dream of"

After the defeat of Gare, the enemy, trying to continue the concept of destruction and occupation, launched extensive invasion attacks on land and in the air on 23 April, this time in Avaşîn, Zap and Metîna. Due to the spirit of resistance revealed in Gare and the willingness to sacrifice that spread from Gare, resistance was mounted on a level that the enemy could not have even dreamed of. This represents the pinnacle of the Apoist spirit. Serhat Giravî and Rûken in Mamreşo, Botan and Zinarîn Welat in Girê Sor, commanders Cumali and Çavrê in Werxelê, Rêber and Hejar in Zendûra; they all became leading commanders of the new era.

"A Year of Courage, Sacrifice and Dignity”

Other topics discussed at our meeting were the determination for women's liberation, the essence of patriotism and the attachment to a free life. The resistance of Sosin, Çavrê, Diljîn, Nûjîn, Tolhildan and Veroz was emphasized and the need to defeat treason was discussed. Our brave women fighters have shown their love for the freedom of all humanity with their blood. In 2021, resistance was put up in Avaşîn, Zap, Zendûra, Botan, Dersim, Şengal and Rojava not only against the Turkish military but also against the armies of NATO and the collaboration of South Kurdistan’s KDP and all imperialist, reactionary and racist forces that stand against a solution based on the democratic nation. In this sense, epics of resistance were written in 2021. The year represented the peak of courage and sacrifice.

"The dawn of the guerrilla war of the new age"

The experiences and successes of 2021 have proved this truth once again. Our guerrilla forces will achieve victory with the strategy of people's war based on the strategies of the new age. Democratic modernity is manifesting and maturing in the ranks of the women guerrillas. New tactics have been developed in the tunnel war and the nature of the movement has been further improved. We will win through massive strikes and sensational actions. The secret of success is an intensive study of women's liberation ideology and party building and the professionalization of the guerrilla struggle. The new tactical awakening and guerrilla practice of the new era will lead us to lasting success.

"The resistance develops through women's intelligence"

Our meeting also addressed the current situation of the contemporary world system. The systemic crisis of capitalist modernity is directed most strongly against women, nature and society. Special war tactics like rape, harassment, violence, massacres and the practices of fascist patriarchal mentality have taken women's breath away. However, based on the paradigm of democratic, ecological and women's libertarian society, the capacity for self-defense has been developed with women's intelligence and own will. The campaigns 'Time for Freedom' and 'Time to Defend the Free Society against Femicide' were widely adopted under the leadership of women. At this level, resistance to the fascist, aggressive, patriarchal rapist mentality was put up in all spheres of life. The experiences from the 2021 resistance also revealed the autonomous leadership of women. Nûjîn Êrs, Nûjîn Koçer, Nûda Sason, Sosin Birhat, Hilal Goran, Hîra Gabar, Canda, Delîla and Sozdar Qamişlo and especially comrade Şilan Goyi made history as leading women commanders of that time. Resistance based on self-defense with women's intelligence is the most logical and effective response to the isolation of Rêber Apo and the Kurdish people.

"The task of the YJA Star is to lead the resistance to victory"

2021 proved to be the year of victory through resistance. The 50th Newroz year of our party will be the year of victory. Our mission as YJA Star is to lead this resistance to victory in 2022. We are committed to our martyrs and we declare our determination to enforce the physical freedom of Rêber Apo and provide a free life for women and our peoples. We salute all resistant women and peoples. We are convinced that the 21st century will be the century of women's liberation revolution. As the Command Council of YJA Star, we know no other path but that of victory. We wish everyone success in the struggle for freedom."
