Ankara Women's Platform launched an online campaign called "Where is Gülistan Doku?" to support the family of the missing young woman, and asked to meet the Ministry of Justice.
The Ankara Women's Platform launched an online campaign with the hashtag “#MinisterofJusticeWhereisGülistanDoku” to raise concern over the struggle of the family of university student Gülistan Doku, who disappeared on 5 January 2020 in Dersim. The family is trying to get an appointment with the Ministry of Justice. Within a short time, numerous people joined the campaign by posting photos of the young woman.
“The family of Gülistan Doku has been requesting an appointment with the Ministry of Justice in Ankara for the last 3 days, but has been subjected to police violence. Why does the Ministry of Justice refuse to talk to the family about the fate of the young missing woman? #MinisterofJusticeWhereisGülistanDoku. We will continue to ask this question until the Ministry of Justice agrees to talk to the family of the young woman. Why is the Ministry of Justice protecting the perpetrators rather than the young missing woman?” The women’s platform asked in a statement.
“Why are you ignoring a grieving family that has been looking for their child for 2 years?” Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul Deputy Dilşat Canbaz asked.
“We will continue to stand by the family of Gülistan, who has been missing for 783 days, in their search for justice,” Lawyers' Association for Freedom (ÖHD) Ankara Branch said on its official twitter account.
Numerous people, women's organizations and non-governmental organizations are continuing to share social media posts with the same hashtag.
