“Women in Black” protest in Italy against the Turkish war in Kurdistan

The activists protested the silence of international bodies and urged them to stop Turkish president “dictator Erdoğan” immediately.

Women in Black is a world-wide network of women committed to peace with justice and actively opposed to injustice, war, militarism and other forms of violence. An important focus is challenging the militarist policies of governments.

The group, which protests against war and militarism in the cities of Parma and Piacenza at 10 a.m. every Saturday, has dedicated this week’s demonstration to expressing solidarity with the Kurdish people against the Turkish state’s genocidal war in various parts of the Kurdistan territory.

With banners denouncing Turkey’s crimes and calling for international action to stop them, the group demonstrated in Parma’s busiest location for around an hour in support of the Kurdish people.

The activists protested the silence of international bodies and urged them to stop Turkish president “dictator Erdoğan” immediately.

“Pretending to be a peace envoy in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Erdoğan is bombing the Kurds in Rojava and South Kurdistan,” said a statement on behalf of the group.

The activists called for strong participation in the demonstrations to be held in Rome on 4 June and in Bologna on 11 June in solidarity with the Kurdish people.
