The Kurdistan Women's Liberation Party (PAJK)Coordination commemorated martyr Viyan Soran in a written message to mark the 16th anniversary of her martyrdom.

The statement published on Tuesday includes the following:

'ÖCALAN AND OUR MARTYRS PUT UP HISTORIC RESISTANCE'

“On the 16th anniversary of her martyrdom, we respectfully commemorate our comrade Viyan Soran, a leading fighter and militant of the line introduced by Öcalan. In the person of comrade Viyan, we commemorate all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Öcalan’s philosophy of free life under the motto 'You cannot darken our sun', with love, devotion and gratitude. We express our hatred by stating that we will avenge the international conspiracy against Öcalan and all human values.

We reiterate our promise to endorse the historic resistance of Öcalan and our martyrs. Hegemonic conspiratorial forces, which wanted to undermine the free will of the people and the women's resistance in the person of Öcalan, to eliminate the PKK movement and to resume the centuries-old genocide of the Kurdish people, captured Öcalan on February 15, 1999. Öcalan and our great martyrs responded to the conspirators through a historical spirit of resistance and sacrifice. The devotion and faith of the Kurdish women in the cause of freedom revolution against the conspiratorial forces have been remarkable. Comrade Viyan Soran left her mark in history as a freedom militant, and together with Öcalan, she adopted the most radical attitude against conspiracy and male-state fascism in a free life. In the struggle for women's liberation, Comrade Viyan was the benchmark of the bonds, beliefs and defenders of the freedom line and the development of Öcalan’s democratic nation paradigm.

Comrade Viyan, a great fighter, joined our freedom movement from South Kurdistan at a young age. As a female militant, she took a leading role in the struggle based on the patriotic devotion and knowledge she developed with reference to Öcalan’s thought and philosophy. Comrade Viyan always took an active stance against backwardness and indetermination together with women. In 2004, Comrade Viyan took part in the restructuring of the PKK against the conspiratorial forces and the treacherous line. She worked hard, making serious efforts. She thus became one of the executive members of the PKK's restructuring. She fought and played a major role in the founding committee of the PKK by adopting a pure line and militancy based on the line of Öcalan. Comrade Viyan considered the re-establishment of the PKK as part of the Democratic Nation paradigm developed by Öcalan. Since she realized that the PKK promoted women’s emancipation and social freedom inspired by Öcalan, re-establishing the PKK was also a historic task for her.

The international conspiracy against Öcalan continues today. Worthy of the resistance of the martyrs, he has continued his resistance against the continuation of the conspiracy and the aggravated isolation. The struggle for freedom continues in the line of Comrade Viyan and thousands of other martyrs. Our people, women, and the militants inspired by Öcalan are struggling to secure his physical freedom. Freedom guerrillas who adopted the line of Viyan and other martyrs in Heftanîn, Metîna, Zap and Zagros have put up historic resistance against the AKP-MHP fascism and the KDP betrayal. The KDP is betraying our people by cooperating with the Turkish state against our people in South Kurdistan in order to consolidate its power and interests. Comrade Viyan's stance and message was against the line of betrayal. Based on the philosophy of Öcalan, the line of Viyan and thousands of martyrs, the Kurdish women and our people in general are waging a major struggle against conspiratorial forces, the Turkish state fascism and the KDP betrayal with their free will. The self-sacrificing comrades in Girê Sor, Werxelê and Zendura have once again conjoined the message of Comrade Viyan and the revolutionary people's war and fought and won under the motto 'You cannot darken our sun'.

'WE CAN FRUSTRATE THE CONSPIRATORIAL PLANS'

Considering this great struggle, we can completely frustrate the plans of conspirators through the attitude, determination and great commitment of Comrade Viyan to Öcalan. As PAJK, we consider the development of the struggle on the line created by the martyrs as a historical task. By reclaiming the struggle of Viyan, Beritan and Zîlan, we can liberate the great freedom struggle and secure the physical freedom of Öcalan.

On this basis, we call on all women in the South as well as in other parts of Kurdistan to take part in the struggle for freedom based on the attitude of Viyan. Just as Viyan defended the free life with her faith and commitment to Öcalan and the PKK line during the most difficult period of the struggle and waged a great struggle, every Kurdish woman and Apoist militant should embrace the historical resistance of Öcalan with the same spirit and responsibility created by Viyan. We once again commemorate all martyrs with love and respect. We reiterate our promise to endorse the historic resistance of Öcalan and our martyrs.”
