The security operation launched on April 18 in Hol Camp in the south of Hesekê city of Cizir Canton completed on its sixth day.
The operation was carried out by Internal Security Forces, Internal Security Forces- Women, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ).
The Internal Security Forces said in a statement on Wednesday that the aim of the operation was to dismantly the ISIS cells in the camp and to ensure security both inside and around the camp.
“In this context, search and combing activities were carried out in many parts of the camp, while special operations were also organized outside the camp,” the statement said and announced the following outcomes:
- As a result of the 6-day operation, 20 ISIS members and collaborators were captured.
- Three AK-47 Kalashnikovs, a pistol, numerous magazines and various military equipment and ammunition were seized from a tent.
- A mass escape attempt organized by a cell inside the camp with another cell outside the camp was prevented and all cell members were captured.
- A special operation organized by the Internal Security Forces-Women targeted an ISIS cell coordinating with other cells to attack.
The statement added that the operation dealt a heavy blow to ISIS’ plans to exploit the humanitarian situation inside the camp.
The Internal Security Forces stressed that the fight against ISIS and efforts to drain the organization's resources will continue with determination.
The Internal Security Forces called on the international community to fulfill their legal and humanitarian responsibilities in Hol Camp, to take back their citizens held in the camp and to provide the necessary support to the Autonomous Administration.
The Internal Security Forces stated that preventive operations will continue in all areas that pose a security threat and asked the public to be sensitive to suspicious activities and cooperate with security forces, stressing that public security is a shared responsibility.
