Women are taking to the streets across Kurdistan to mark the International Women’s Day.
Women celebrated March 8, International Women’s Day, in the Qandil and Kelar regions of southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
Celebrations on the occasion of March 8 took place in the town of Kelar and in the villages of Aliye Reş, Beştê, Maredu and Zêve in Qandil.
The event in Kelar was organised under the motto “We will reclaim social values for society”. The celebration in the Cultural House witnessed a discussion on women, culture and art.
The groups protested violence against women and expressed their demand for equality.
