Leila Khaled, a member of the Politburo of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), sent a message to jailed Kurdish woman politician Aysel Tuğluk, saying; “We wish that you gain your freedom together with all political prisoners in Turkey.”
The “1000 Women for Aysel Tuğluk” initiative published Khaled's message to the Kurdish politician Aysel Tuğluk, who has not been released despite being diagnosed with dementia.

“Dear Aysel, we, Palestinian women, show our love and solidarity with you. We wish you and all political prisoners to be released from prisons in Turkey as soon as possible. Keep your spirits up. You will be free,” Khaled said.
Palestinian revolutionary Leila Khaled came into prominence as the first woman to hijack an airplane in 1969. The following year, she took part in one of the four simultaneous Dawson's Field hijackings as part of the campaign of Black September in Jordan.
Khaled, born in 1944, was a fighter of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Currently, she is a member of the Palestinian National Council.
