Kurdish women in Russia celebrate 8 March

Artists attended the Kurdish women's events marking International Women’s Day in Russia.

Kurdish women living in different regions of Russia celebrated 8 March, International Working Women's Day.

Women held celebrations with meetings and concerts in their areas. Local artists and folklore groups took the stage in the celebrations held in Moscow and Krasnodar's Starivilichovskaya.

MOSCOW

The celebration in Moscow started with a film screening. Then the representatives of the Women's Movement, the Moscow Representation of Northern and Eastern Syria and the Moscow Assembly delivered their speeches drawing attention to the resistance of Kurdish women against the Turkish state. The speakers stated that Kurdish women successfully continue their struggles all over the world, especially the YJA Star guerrillas and YPJ fighters. Local artists Sare Xadjiyeva, Leyla, Monika and Nishtiman folklore group performed at the meeting.

KRASNODAR

March 8 was celebrated with the participation of hundreds of people in the village of Starivilichovskaya in Krasnodar.

The celebration saw local artists and govend groups performing. Adygea Council co-chair Sinem Broyeva, Krasnodar Parliament co-chair Bese Aliyeva and Krasnodar Council Member Dilbera Wekil spoke at the celebration.

Artists Ahmed Gasanov, Bari Yusubov and govend group Koma Berivan also took the stage. Musicians Hasane Rüstem, Rüsteme Celil and Dilbera Wekil also attended the event. Tulips were distributed to the women at the end of the celebration.
