Attack on Manbij repelled, 12 mercenaries killed

Manbij is also under threat from attacks by the SNA mercenary coalition. At least 12 of the attackers were killed in attacks against the self-governing region.

The region of Manbij is also a target of attacks by Turkey-backed mercenaries. On Monday night, units of the so-called Syrian National Army (SNA), an alliance of pro-Turkish mercenary groups, tried to invade the region again. Fighters of the Manbij Military Council (MMC) managed to repel the mercenaries' attacks and ten of the attackers were killed. The retreat of the attackers was followed by intense artillery shelling.

Another attempt to enter the canton was also repelled late yesterday evening. According to Manbij Military Council, pro-Turkey mercenaries tried to set up heavy weapons in front of their bases at the al-Kreidiye front. The impending attack was prevented as Manbij Military Council immediately targeted two mortars. One mortar was destroyed and two mercenaries killed. Several of the attackers' vehicles were also destroyed.

Manbij has been in the sights of the Turkish state for a long time. Therefore, there is a possibility that a major attack on the strategically important region is being prepared following the invasion of Aleppo and Shehba.
