According to Jinnews, which releases monthly reports on violence against women, at least 26 women were murdered in Turkey in March.
In the same month, 17 women were reported to have died suspiciously.
The report pointed out that the perpetrators also tried to murder women who attempted to prevent them.
“Falling from the balcony” was cited mostly as the cause of the suspicious deaths recorded during the month.
Most cases of femicide were reported in Istanbul (6) and Konya (3). According to the report, there were no femicides in the cities of North Kurdistan (Turkey’s southeast) last month.
The report said that there were 10 femicide attempts that failed. Furthermore, 8 women were subjected to violence, one woman was detained, and two women were raped.
In the meantime, 3 children were killed and 2 more died suspiciously in March. Moreover, 5 children were subjected to sexual harassment, 3 children were raped, and one child was subjected to violence at a Quran course.
