Speeches by BDP co-chairs under investigation

Diyarbakýr Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered an investigation into Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chairs Gültan Kýþanak and Selahattin Demirtaþ in connection with their speeches during their visit to hunger strikers in Diyarbakýr. The prosecutor ordered the collection of all footages of the press statement.

Selahattin Demirtaþ had said the government indifference towards the Roboski massacre, arrests, operations and denial of demands for education in mother tongue severed the Kurdish people from the Turkish state on an emotional level. Demirtaþ had also called upon the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government saying, "Either you fulfill your historical responsibility and take a step for peace or you may step down."
