SDF captures Syria’s largest oil field

On Sunday, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) took control of Al-Umar region, which is the largest oil field in Syria.

SDF fighters captured Al-Umar oil field after clashes with ISIS gangs on Sunday, SDF sources said.

The oil field is about 25 kilometres east of Deir ez-Zor city and is the largest oil field in Syria.

Last week SDF forces also captured Jafra oil field and processing facility from ISIS.

SDF forces started Operation Cizire Storm on September 9 to liberate Deir ez-Zor governate from ISIS. The region is home to several large oilfields.
