Ayşe Hiso: Turkification policy prolongs Syrian crisis

Ayşe Hiso evaluated the Turkification policies introduced by the Turkish state in the regions it occupied saying this policy prolongs the Syrian crisis.

The occupying Turkish state continues to Turkify the regions it occupied in Syria. The invaders, who placed Turkish symbols in places they occupied, also changed the demographic structure of the region.

Making evaluations on the issue, Democratic Union Party (PYD) Co-chair Ayşe Hiso told ANHA that Turkification policies prolonged the Syrian crisis.

Reminding the Astana and Geneva talks held for the solution of the Syrian crisis, Hiso stated that the states in Astana talks have taken steps to make the conflicts in Syria permanent. Drawing attention to the Turkish state's involvement in the Syrian crisis, Hiso said, “The Turkish state tried to ally with the Syrian opposition from the first day. There was a reason for this. It was the first step to prepare the ground for the occupation ”.

TURKIFICATION POLICY

Evaluating the policy introduced by the Turkish state in Syria, Hiso said, “We see the situation of Bab, Ezaz, Idlib and Jarablus. The situation is no different in Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê. All these are the results of the Turkish state's expansionist policies. It is trying to reach the Ottoman borders by going beyond its own borders. AKP’s chair Erdoğan personally manages these plans”.

Listing the Turkification practices of the Turkish state in the places it occupied, Hiso underlined that these are the policy of assimilation. Reminding the establishment of campuses affiliated to Turkish universities in Syria, Hiso said, “The Turkish state does not seek to solve the Syrian crisis. They just want the region to be Turkified. This is the reason why they support the opposition ".

Stating that demographic change has reached a dangerous point in Afrin, Hiso said, “We must be careful about the politics of the states involved in the process in Syria. We waged a struggle by saying no to occupation since the first day. We always stood against demographic change."

Noting that the PYD is constantly engaged in democratic politics, unlike the Damascus government and opponents, Hiso said, “We were attacked from all sides because we represent democratic politics. "These negotiation talks failed because we were not included in the Geneva and Astana process."

"DIALOGUE WITHOUT REAL REPRESENTATIVES CANNOT BE ACCEPTED"

Referring to the negotiation talks held for the solution of the Syrian crisis, Hiso stated that a dialogue without real representatives is unacceptable. Hiso said that the states that participated in the negotiation are trying to realize their own interests. “Some circles try to take advantage of the Syrian crisis. The prolongation of the crisis gives them the upper hand."

Drawing attention to the ongoing crisis in Idlib, Hiso stated that the Turkish state's military shipments to the region make the conflict continue. "The current process in Idlib is proceeding by trying to convince the other parties. The Turkish state has entered into a big stalemate in 2021. It cannot end its relations with Russia. Nor can it give up NATO. In Turkey, there is a great confusion and chaos. Turkey is dealing with Idlib in order to escape from its own problems, ”she said.

Emphasizing that the Syrian peoples are aware of everything, Hiso stated that the Turkish state's occupation policy is rejected by the Syrian peoples. Emphasizing that the resistance that started in Afrin, the Serêkaniyê resistance in Shehba continues in the Waşûkani Camp, Hiso said that the resistance against the Turkish state will continue in every field.
