The North and East Syria Autonomous Administration Health Committee has performed the first heart surgery in the newly opened Heart and Eye Diseases Hospital. Hospital Director Mihemed Eli Ebdi said: "We performed the surgery to a 60-year-old patient. The surgery lasted 4 hours.”

The treatment of the patient continues, said Ebdi, adding that other surgeries will be performed in the coming days.

Patients used to go to provinces such as Damascus, Aleppo and Homs to undergo this type of surgery.
