Where are the bodies of martyrs kidnapped from Afrin?

Afrin Martyrs' Families Council Co-chair Fewzi Mistefa asked where the bodies of martyrs kidnapped from Afrin by the Turkish state have been taken. Mistefa urged the international community to step into action against this crime.

The Avesta Cemetery, where fallen YPG-YPG fighters and civilians were buried, has recently been destroyed during the invasion attacks by the Turkish state. Turkish pro-government media outlets disseminated fabricated news that the graves belong to “executed civilians”. However, officials in Afrin disclaimed the allegations by releasing images of the graves.

Mistefa called on the international community to find out where the martyrs have been reburied.

“As the Afrin Martyrs' Families Council, we urge international law organizations to deploy committees to Afrin to determine the location of the bodies of our martyrs and to make a statement to the public over the issue. Some eyewitnesses claim that the bodies of our martyrs have been buried in Henan Cemetery in Shera. We know the disrespect of the Turkish state to the mortal remains of our martyrs. Previously, the Martyr Refiq Martyrdom in the Metina village of Shera was turned into a military base, and the Martyr Avesta Xabur Martyrdom in the centre of Afrin into a livestock market. Turkey also destroyed the Martyr Seydo Cemetery on Mount Qaziqli. Therefore, we want to know where the bodies of our martyrs are. We demand the UN to resolve this issue,” Mistefa said.
