“Turkey violates international agreements by cutting off Euphrates water”

Cozêf Lehdo, deputy co-chair of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria designated the Turkish state's water cut in the Euphrates River as an economic sabotage.

The occupying Turkish state uses the Euphrates River as a weapon against the peoples of North and East Syria. No reaction has been observed from the countries of the region against the Turkish state, which violates the international agreements it has signed.

"WATER CUT AFFECTS DAILY LIFE"

Cozêf Lehdo said "Not only people but also all living beings and nature are devastated in this way. The Turkish state has used water as a weapon against Syria and Iraq for years, Lehdo said.

"We are facing a humanitarian crisis right now. Therefore, the international community should take responsibility and stop the Turkish state. All living spaces of the people are damaged. In particular, the agricultural sector has received very serious blows. The people of the region make a living through agriculture."

'IRAQI AND SYRIAN GOVERNMENTS SILENT'

Lehdo added, "The Turkish state cuts the water off and subjects people to starvation. The Turkish state has agreements with Syria and Iraq. However, it does not fulfil any of them. It acts as it wishes. In the meantime, there is no reaction from the Iraqi and Damascus governments.”
