SOHR: Turkish-backed factions seize olive fields of displaced people in Afrin

Turkish-backed factions seize nearly 60 olive fields belonging to displaced people in Shera district of Afrin.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Turkish-backed factions operating under the banner of the “National Army” seized, in the past few days, large spaces of olive fields in Maydanki area of Shera district in Afrin countryside, north-west of Aleppo.

According to SOHR sources, the olive fields, which have been seized by the economic bureau of “Sultan Murad Division”, exceeded 60 fields belonging to civilians who have been displaced from Afrin during “Olive Branch” operation. The economic bureau of “Sultan Murad Division” have distributed these fields evenly to the factions controlling the Shera district.

On Thursday, SOHR sources reported that Ankara-backed “National Army” factions continued violations against the people of Afrin, including arrests of civilians on various charges, and theft of properties of people who were displaced by the military operations and those stayed in their areas, since Turkish forces and their proxy factions captured Afrin city and its surrounding areas in March 2018, under the name of operation “Olive Branch”.

In this context, the Syrian Observatory reported that militants of the Turkish-backed “Suqur of al-Sham” faction cut off more than 400 olive trees in an agricultural orchard in the village of Qazlbash in Bulbul district in Afrin countryside in north-west Aleppo, which belonged to a civilian from the village, who was displaced due to the military operations in the region.
