SDF statement on continued attacks against Ain Issa

SDF said that attacks were carried out in front of the eyes of the Russian forces who did nothing to intervene or stop the attacks.

The Press Office of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) released a statement on increasingly ongoing attacks of the Turkish army and allied mercenaries against Ain Issa town in northern Syria.

The statement said the following:

“The Turkish army and its mercenary factions carried out an attack on the town of Ain Issa from three directions with support of armed unmanned aerial vehicles and artillery. Our forces retaliated against those attacks in self-defense and fierce clashes broke out on several fronts around Ain Issa.

This attack was carried out in front of the eyes of the Russian forces who did nothing to intervene or stop the attacks. The Russian military is supposed to be a guarantor for the implementation of the cease-fire agreement but they have failed to play their role. These events raise doubts about the capability of Russia to enforce the cease-fire deal brokered by themselves and furthermore raises questions regarding their role as a guarantor for the possibility of reaching a political solution for Syria.”
