MSD Co-chair: Every threat by Turkey is a danger for Syrian lands

MSD Co-chair Umer called for action to stop Turkey’s threats to invade northern Syria.

People have started human shield actions in al-Munbatih neighborhood and in al-Rafa and Nis Til villages of Gire Spi (Tal Abyad) in response to the Turkish state’s threats and preparations for an incursion into northern Syria.

Hundreds of people from across the region, including Kobanê, Manbij, Tabqa and Raqqa, have joined the protests today, giving messages of resistance against Turkish invasion.

IBRAHIM: THERE ARE TWO CHOICES

Speaking at the action in al-Munbatih neighborhood, Syrian Future Party Euphrates Region Co-president Kedim Ibrahim said that the people joining the protests were giving a message of dialogue and fraternity of peoples against Turkey’s threats.

Pointing at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s impositions on the peoples of North and East Syria, Ibrahim said; “With his threats, Erdoğan shows that there are two choices for the peoples of North and East Syria; to “either live without honor or be buried under the ground”. Our answer is clear; we will either sit at the table and develop good relationships as neighbors or we will resist and protect our land and honor.”

UMER: SILENCE ENCOURAGES TURKEY

Speaking after, Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) Co-chair Emine Umer recalled that the crisis ongoing in Syria for years had witnessed several conspiracies that eventually made Syria into a theater of war. Noting that the peoples of Syria had paid heavy prices due to the war, Umer continued; “Turkey is one of the countries that tried to turn the crisis in Syria into an advantage. Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, Turkey has pursued a dirty politics and international forces have supported Turkey in this regard.”

MSD Co-chair continued; “The Syrian regime is yet to speak out against Turkey’s threats of invasion as it did in the occupation of Afrin, al-Bab, Jarablus and Azaz. This silence helps Turkey invade more parts of Syrian lands.”

Highlighting their insistence on the search for a solution through dialogue, Umer said; “We still adhere to coming up with a solution to the existing problems with dialogue. We are ready to sit at the table and talk with all the constituents in Syria, be it either the opposition or the regime. Dialogue is the only way to find a solution and to build trust and peace.”

Umer warned that; “Every single threat of Turkey is a danger for Syrian lands and closes all the ways to a solution. These threats will ultimately cause a great chaos and ISIS will take advantage of it. We call upon the United Nations to stop Turkey’s threats.”
