Mother of Ş. Lêgerîn sends a message of solidarity to the people of North-East Syria

Even before and especially after Şehîd Lêgerîn’s martyrdom in 2018, her mother, Patricia, time after time raised her voice in support for her daughters’ comrades and the Kurdish people.

Patricia Gregorini, the mother of Alina Sanchez (Şehîd Lêgerîn Çiya) sent a message of solidarity to the people of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) following the latest attacks on the Rojava Revolution.

“Hello, I’m the mother of Alina Sanchez, Şehîd Lêgerîn. My name is Patricia Gregorini. With this video I want to send my solidarity to the Kurdish people in these difficult times under the attacks of Erdoğan. I appreciate your courage, your love for life and how you protect your loved ones around you. You, who are so united in this fight. I hope that everything will end well and that this cause will be settled in a way that gives you justice. In memory of my daughter who loved your people so much, I want to give you strength, support and to value your fight. Thank you for continuing the fight for this model of a free life.”

Şehîd Lêgerîn was born in 1986 in Argentina. Since her childhood she was known for her warmth and passion and her ambition to make the world a better place. Growing up, she kept and developed these traits even further, resulting in a search for her place in life.

This search led her from Argentina to Cuba, where she studied medicine, and Chiapas and finally, in 2011, to Kurdistan, where she joined the guerrilla in the mountains of the Medya Defence Zones.

Witnessing the reality of war firsthand, her determination only grew stronger, so she finished her medical studies in Cuba before she temporarily returned to Argentina. At that time, she laid the groundwork for many connections and relationships that exist until today.

In 2015, she returned to Kurdistan and after arriving in Rojava, she soon became an integral part of the work to build up a healthcare system that would truly serve the people.

In the following years, she connected with thousands of people who recall her as a fighter, a healer, an organiser and a comrade with endless dedication.

On 17th of March 2018, Şehîd Lêgerîn tragically fell a martyr in a car accident near Hesekê.

She has been an inspiration to many and her memory carries the revolution forward. Honouring her intense dedication to building the healthcare system in Rojava, a hospital in Til Temir was built, carrying her name.
