The Afrin Liberation Forces (HRE) Command announced on Thursday, Feb.1, that their units carried out a retaliatory action in response to the genocidal attacks of the Turkish state and allied mercenaries against North-East Syria.

“The enemy massacres thousands of our people every day, attacks and insults our sacred values. The occupiers and their gangs are carrying out a policy of genocide against the Kurds living in Afrin and its villages, committing crimes against humanity. Enemy attacks on the living spaces of our people have increased recently. Dozens of our people, including children and women, have been martyred, mainly as a result of airstrikes. No power speaks out against these massacres and the attacks of the invaders that are perpetrated in front of the eyes of the whole world. We, as the defense force of our people, do not remain silent in the face of attacks, we carry out revenge actions,” said the HRE Command.

According to the HRE, their fighters carried out a comprehensive action against the Turkish occupying army base in Basilê village of Sherawa district on January 30. 12 Turkish soldiers and 8 gangs were killed, while 8 soldiers and 17 gangs were wounded during the action. In addition, 1 DShK machine gun, 1 heavy weapon position, 2 surveillance cameras and 18 trenches were destroyed.

Accordingly, HRE fighters Cûdî Gabar, Cûdî Reşo, Çîçek Kobanê, Jiyan Efrin and Dilşêr Serekaniyê fell as martyrs during the course of the action, in which they participated with a sacrificial spirit.

“With their passion for their people, nature and culture and a revolutionary spirit, our comrades Cûdî Gabar, Cûdî Reşo, Çîçek, Jiyan and Dilşêr waged a sacrificial struggle for a free future and the return of our people to their own lands. The goal of our fallen comrades was the freedom of our people, and they did not compromise on their stance until their last breath. They fulfilled their duties and responsibilities in the best way. The memories and goals of our fallen comrades will be the main goal of our freedom struggle."

Offering their condolences to the families of 5 fighters and the patriotic people, HRE reiterated their promise to the people and martyrs that “we will liberate our city of Afrin from the invaders with a revolutionary spirit."
