Health Committee warns about Covid spiralling out of control in North and East Syria

The North and East Syria Health Committee warned that the increase in coronavirus cases could lead to a humanitarian catastrophe and called on all citizens and healthcare professionals to act jointly against the virus.

North and East Health Committee co-chair Dr. Ciwan Mistefa held a press conference at the Qamishlo Foreign Relations Office. Mistefa warned that the increase in coronavirus cases could lead to a humanitarian catastrophe.

Stating that the situation in the region is very worrying, Mistefa added: “It is very likely that the coronavirus in the region could go out of control. The number of people who lost their lives due to coronavirus and coronavirus infection in Northern and Eastern Syria is increasing by the day. The World Health Organization (WHO) has not provided any assistance to the region so far.”

Misftefa called on all citizens, healthcare professionals and the Internal Security Forces to act jointly to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and to comply with the curfew decisions taken in the region.
