Guerrilla actions against Turkish occupation forces continue

HPG reported that the guerrillas destroyed two excavators and damaged an armoured car during an action against a Turkish army construction crew in southern Kurdistan. One soldier was killed and five others wounded.

The Press Centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) issued a statement providing information about the ongoing resistance of the guerrillas and the attacks by the Turkish army in the guerrilla-held Medya Defence Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

According to the statement, guerrillas from the Free Women's Troops (YJA Star) targeted and damaged a position of the Turkish invasion troops at Girê Bahar in the west of the Zap region with heavy weapons on 29 October.

On 31 October, guerrillas intervened against the military road construction in the area and struck the construction crew from two flanks. Two Turkish army-deployed excavators were destroyed, killing one driver and wounding the other. An armoured car sent to protect the construction crew was also hit, wounding four more of the occupation troops.

According to the statement, the Turkish army has used banned explosives against guerrilla tunnels in the Lolan and Xakurke, Girê FM and Girê Bahar areas of Zap a total of 13 times in the last two days. On 27 October, 31 October and 1 November, fighter jets bombed areas in the Xakurke, Gare, Metîna, Zap and Qandil regions a total of 44 times. 19 further air strikes were carried out by attack helicopters in areas of Metîna and the western Zap region on 31 October and 1 November.
