General lockdown begins in North and East Syria

The general lockdown will last 10 days. Furthermore, all border gates in northern and eastern Syria will be kept closed except for emergencies.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced a general curfew on Tuesday to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The lockdown introduced this morning covers all regions of northern and eastern Syria.

Residents have to wear their health masks when they need to go out in case of emergency.

The Internal Security Forces have increased the number of checkpoints on all main streets and roads.

The general lockdown will last 10 days. Furthermore, all border gates in northern and eastern Syria will be kept closed except for emergencies.

Hospitals, pharmacies, bakeries, fuel stations, greengrocers, markets, humanitarian organizations and press organizations will be exempted from the general lockdown. The activities of farmers and workers will be facilitated.

The Autonomous Administration suspended the activities of all its institutions and units except for the institutions and departments that are supposed to function.
